Job Description

Company Description

Our client is a privately held jewelry distributor headquartered in the Parsippany, NJ area, servicing major big box retailers across the United States and Canada. The company offers a broad assortment ranging from fashion jewelry to bridge, sold primarily on a private label basis at retail price points of approximately $20 to $40. Its established relationships with national retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Macy’s represent a substantial portion of total company volume, and the organization is focused on developing the next generation of commercial talent to support its continued growth.

Objective of the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Key Account Manager will assume full ownership of the company’s key national retail accounts, including Target, Walmart, and Macy’s, which together generate around $10-12 million in annual sales. The primary mission is to maintain and strengthen these existing partnerships while strategically growing the business, both organically and through new opportunities across all channels, including e-commerce and specialty retail.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is an early-to-mid career professional with demonstrated experience managing or supporting large national retail accounts. Direct experience with Target, Walmart, or Macy’s is preferred, though candidates who have successfully managed accounts of comparable scale will be considered. Experience selling private label products to major retailers is a strong asset. A background in the jewelry industry is welcome but not required, nor is experience at a specific price point.

Two profiles are particularly well suited to this position: candidates with a background in merchandising, product design, or fashion; or candidates with a strong analytical orientation, such as former retail planners or buyers. In all cases, the candidate must be able to present data and insights effectively to retail partners. The role is based in Northern New Jersey, near Parsippany, with a preference for in-person presence; a hybrid arrangement may be considered for an exceptional candidate commuting from the New York City area.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of key national retail accounts, managing all aspects of the relationships.
  • Conduct in-depth market and industry analysis to identify and forecast trends across channels, including pricing, promotional activity, and seasonality.
  • Identify white space opportunities and build strategies around positioning, pricing, and target consumers in collaboration with merchandising, design, planning, operations, and sourcing teams.
  • Establish annual and monthly sales objectives, provide regular updates, and lead sales and strategy meetings with internal teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on assortment planning, pricing, margins, product development, and packaging.
  • Monitor deliveries to ensure optimal inventory flow and fill rates.
  • Present proposals, analyses, and business updates to the leadership team.
  • Travel as needed, approximately once per quarter.

Requirements

  • College degree.
  • Proven track record managing large retail accounts and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to present data persuasively.
  • Self-starter capable of succeeding with minimal direction; results driven, team oriented, and an excellent communicator.
  • Based in or able to commute regularly to Northern New Jersey.
