Objective of the Role

Our client is seeking an adept and experienced Denim Designer to join their Apparel Design department in Denver, CO. The incumbent will play a crucial role in overseeing the design process of denim products, from conceptualization to final execution. They will also be expected to work in a casual yet vibrant atmosphere, demonstrating creativity, initiative, and meticulous attention to detail.

The ideal candidate is an imaginative and resourceful individual, with an in-depth understanding of the fashion industry, particularly in denim. They should have excellent sketching and design skills, be trend-savvy, and possess a discerning eye for color, texture, and pattern. Their approach should be well-organized and they should be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. The candidate should be an exemplary team player with strong leadership qualities, have a positive attitude, and be open to diverse viewpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design of all denim brands within the company’s portfolio.
  • Initiate the product design process, including color, print, fabric, and trim research, concept creation, sketching, and ensuring proper fit.
  • Create sketches by hand or computer to articulate design concepts.
  • Monitor design development and engage in fit sessions.
  • Analyze trends in fabrics, colors, and shapes to cater to customer preferences.
  • Work in an organized manner, displaying a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless design execution.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a focus on Fashion Design or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a denim designer.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
  • Strong knowledge of western and/or workwear industry.
  • Expertise in garment construction, pattern, fit, fabrications, and finishes.
  • Adept at hand and computer drawing.
  • Strong business acumen, organizational skills, and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Aptitude for keeping abreast with fashion trends.
  • Appreciated previous experience: Wrangler, Levi Strauss & Co., Ariat International, Justin Brands, Stetson, Cavender’s, Boot Barn, Cinch, Montana Silversmiths, Rock & Roll Cowboy
