Job: Senior Accountant (Beauty / Makeup)

Our Client

Our client for this Senior Accountant is a celebrity makeup artist brand now located in the New York City area and recently acquired by a Chinese group.

Job Description

• Assist in month-end closing and perform monthly analytics to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements
• Coordinate and oversee our outsourcing accounting team (TMF) and be the first point of contact for issues and questions related to TMF regarding AP/AR/Sales Tax
• Assists in budget/forecast preparation with various departments and group reporting package preparation
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis to deliver on strategic and operational goals of the Company, such as AR Analysis (Dilution) and Supplier cost analysis
• Assist with documentation of accounting policies and procedures that ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP principles
• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, general ledger accounts, and financial reports
• Coordinate with other departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues
• Assist FC in implementing landed cost process in Nav and assist in cost variance analysis between accrual and actual
• Assist with year-end audit and sales tax audit

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business required, working towards a professional certification or master’s degree preferred
• Experience in cosmetics, fashion retail or wholesale is preferred
• At least 3 years of experience in a corporate accounting department or public accounting firm
• Excellent Excel skills (mastery of Pivot Tables, data sorting and V-Lookups a must). Other MSOffice tools experience required.
• Self-starter that will take initiative in a small-company environment
• Experience with ERP systems, Navision/Business Central & Qlikview preferred
• Good interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills
