Our client is an established beauty and personal care company headquartered in the Los Angeles area.
Objective
The Senior Art Director will be responsible for leading and designing the Brand initiatives across all Marketing platforms: product curation, customer experience, in-store experience, online experience, promotional/communications materials, presentation approaches, event activities and various Brand partnerships. This individual must understand the Brand and the retail space, whereby utilizing this knowledge to manage and direct creative department staff, collaborating with various Marketing departments to support existing or potential initiatives. The Senior Art Director will visually communicate the brand, providing a consistent image internally and externally, while synthesizing various assets, style guides and licenses under a unified brand aesthetic. This individual will support the two Senior Vice Presidents of Marketing in a fast-paced, hands-on, growing cosmetic company with an indisputable reputation and entrepreneurial spirit.
Job Description
- Responsible for maintaining consistent brand image, look-and-feel, and vision across all Marketing materials: product curation, customer experience, in-store experience, online experience, promotional/communications materials, presentations approaches, photography, advertising, event activities, and various Brand partnerships
- Responsible for product package design, including primary and secondary packaging. Visually communicates product story and develops creative solutions
- Responsible for leading the creative department and providing a strategic Brand vision in partnership with cross-functional teams. Measurements of success found in sales growth, consumer engagement, web traffic, and brand awareness and desirability
- Works closely with our in-house Creative Production Unit to produce video and photo assets in a visually consistent Brand style for Social, Web, Advertising
- Leads workflow and schedules for the creative department on a project basis based on priorities, securing deadlines and ensuring deliverables are met
- Thorough understanding of art, design, copy, and layout
- Oversee artwork production from concept to final product
- Responsible for leading the creative department, providing a strategic Brand vision in partnership with cross-functional teams. Measurements of success found in sales growth, consumer engagement, web traffic, and brand awareness and desirability
- Responsible for in-store display design, with a proficient knowledge of various vehicles and printing materials
- Responsible for procuring 3D comps for Marketing presentations
- Leads photo and video shoots alongside our Creative Production Unit, from concept to production; budgeting, on-set direction, talent, styling, lighting, location scouting, and post-production editing
- Develop visual expression and maintain visual documentation, style guide, brochures, and layouts for the brand across all channels
- Work closely with Merchandising group for planogram graphics to maintain consistent Brand image
- Partner with Brand, Product, and Digital Marketing teams to develop projects, campaigns, and programs that align with Marketing activities
- Requires a strong proficiency in file preparation and delivery systems
- Analyze industry trends to maintain fresh Creative approaches
- Mentor designers through strategic solutions, while fostering a collaborative work environment interdepartmentally
- Liaise with external vendors, teams, and contractors to coordinate proper execution
- Manage creative budget
- Demonstrate leadership in engaging and working with internal and external resources
- Responsible for managing creative department staff
- Perform other duties as needed and directed by management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or similar discipline
- Minimum 7 years of work experience
- FDM Color Cosmetic a strong plus
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite
- Expert in graphic design, typography, print production, copy, and web
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Power Point/Word
- Experience in designing for a variety of mediums: print, packaging, web, etc.
- Excellent Leadership Skills – Maintains creative department staff by developing, fostering, recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Strong leadership in establishing work priorities for multiple projects, accepting responsibility, developing confidence & respect, and shifting priorities to accommodate change
- Time Management – Able to prioritize multiple projects across creative department staff from various groups along with pertinent timelines and communicate shifting priorities to appropriate team members
- Strong knowledge of print production processes, manufacturing and timelines
- Detail-Oriented – Takes pride and initiative in one’s work. Is well-organized, meticulous, and takes ownership of projects. Precise and demanding in flawless execution
