My story in agriculture began on our family farm in northwest Ohio. We had a small dairy farm that evolved into a beef finishing operation and a medium-sized grain farm that continues to grow today. I was very enthusiastic about livestock at a young age and exhibited beef cattle, market dairy cattle and a few hogs through 4-H. My passion for agriculture led me to a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Food Safety from The Ohio State University. Upon graduation, I began a career in agronomy, consulting with farmers on their seed, fertilizer, and crop protection needs. I focused mainly on corn, soybeans, and wheat, along with a few acres of forage crops and tomatoes. I also became a Certified Crop Adviser to further serve my customers. I thoroughly enjoyed the seed aspect and transitioned into a retail sales role at an independent seed company. I learned about contract growing hybrid seed corn, hybrid popcorn seed, soybean seed, and wheat seed. I’ve built relationships with farmers and retailers across Ohio, assisted with wholesale distributors, and managed the introduction of new genetics into the marketplace. Through my experiences, I’ve come to understand the importance of people and relationships in business and in life. This understanding of surrounding yourself with good people and putting the right people in the right positions has led me to my current role as Senior Recruiter at AgHires. Everyday, it’s my privilege to connect great people with great companies and be part of the future of agriculture.
