Objective of the Role
The Business Development Manager for Supplier Relations will serve as the key representative and relationship manager for the company’s diamond supplier network in North America. This position will focus on managing and growing the supplier side of the marketplace, ensuring a robust and diverse supply of diamonds to meet the growing demand from retail partners. The role combines relationship management with strategic business development, requiring deep industry knowledge and strong networking capabilities within the diamond sector.

The ideal candidate is a respected professional within the diamond industry who brings both technical knowledge of diamonds and established relationships with major suppliers. They should be equally comfortable maintaining high-level business relationships and diving into the operational details that make partnerships successful. This person must be able to represent the company with authority and credibility in the traditional diamond industry while also championing digital transformation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for existing diamond suppliers on the platform, ensuring their success and maximizing their engagement
- Identify and secure new strategic supplier partnerships to expand the platform’s diamond offerings
- Provide market intelligence and feedback to the product team to enhance the platform’s supplier-side features
- Develop and execute strategies to increase supplier satisfaction and transaction volume
- Collaborate with the retail-focused team to ensure alignment between supply and demand
- Represent the company at industry events and trade shows
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and work with partners to optimize their results
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in supplier organizations
- Act as a trusted advisor to suppliers in their digital transformation journey
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the diamond industry with established relationships in the supplier segment
- Proven track record in B2B relationship management or business development
- Deep understanding of the diamond supply chain and wholesale market dynamics
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication abilities with both traditional industry partners and technology teams
- Ability to travel within North America to meet with suppliers and attend industry events
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- GIA certification or equivalent diamond grading expertise
- Experience with digital platforms or marketplaces
- Knowledge of multiple languages common in the diamond trade
- Previous experience in a scale-up or high-growth environment
- Familiarity with CRM systems and data analytics
