Our client, a recently acquired small but ambitious brewery in Omaha, Nebraska, is embarking on an aggressive growth plan backed by a large group. This pivotal turnaround mission requires strong leadership and operational expertise to drive the company towards new heights of productivity and success.

Objective of the Role

The General Manager will expedite the brewery’s growth, ensuring efficient and effective management and performance. The role demands an experienced leader with a dynamic background in mainline brewing operations. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills, and will develop innovative solutions to challenge the status quo. They will work closely with the board of directors to strategize and develop both short-term and long-term plans that will propel the company to new levels of success.

Ideal Profile

  • Proven senior management experience in a mainline brewery or a similar dynamic setting.
  • Strong operational background with a track record of driving cost reductions and performance improvements.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the board of directors to develop strategic goals for operational efficiency, increased productivity, and long-term plans.
  • Identify and drive cost reductions, improvements, and initiatives to enhance performance.
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and standards while complying with laws and regulations.
  • Oversee production, purchasing, and sales departments, ensuring each meets goals set by departmental and company leadership.
  • Implement policies and procedures to improve day-to-day operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Project a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

Requirements

  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Ten or more years in a senior leadership role within a field related to the brewing industry.
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans.
  • Superior negotiation skills for both internal and external purposes.
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, utilizing business management software.
  • Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong communication skills to explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and at all levels of the organization.
  • Appreciated previous experience (to be combined with smaller brands and more start up environments): AB Inbev, MolsonCoors, Constellation, Heineken, Pabst, Diageo, Yuengling, SAB Miller, Great Lakes, Rhinegeist, Brewdog…
  • Appreciated previous titles: Vice President, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, General Manager, Country Manager, Chief Executive Office, Chief Operating Officer, VP of Operations.
