Job Description

Company Description

Our client is a leading global player in the Wines & Spirits industry, recognized for its premium portfolio of renowned brands. They are committed to driving growth through innovative strategies and premium experiences. As they expand their presence in the dynamic New York City market, they are seeking a passionate and results-driven professional to manage the Asia channel. This channel primarily focuses on key venues such as karaoke bars, nightclubs, and banquet halls, where the Asian market is thriving.

Objective of the Role

The NYC Market Manager for the Asia Channel will play a critical role in driving channel-specific performance across priority venues in the New York City and Flushing markets. Working closely with distributor selling divisions and priority Asian channel accounts, this individual will be responsible for building relationships, driving sales, and ensuring the execution of high-quality brand representation. The role requires a native or near-native Mandarin speaker with strong knowledge of the NYC market, and the ability to visit clients regularly, including evenings and weekends for events.

Ideal Profile

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin and fluency in English.
  • Proven background in Wines & Spirits or, alternatively, the broader Food & Beverage industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of the New York City and Flushing, NY markets, particularly in Asian-focused venues.
  • Strong sales and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Available to visit clients 3-4 days per week and attend events on evenings and weekends.
  • A team player who can collaborate with distributor networks and internal teams to optimize opportunities in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and drive the performance of the Distributor channel selling division in priority markets across NYC, particularly in the Asian channel.
  • Conduct regular sales calls and distributor rideshares to ensure effective sell-in and sell-through, as well as the execution of visual merchandising standards for the client’s portfolio.
  • Serve as the brand education authority on the client’s portfolio, delivering training and maintaining relationships with key accounts.
  • Identify and cultivate direct client opportunities, including corporate clients and spirit-focused social clubs.
  • Plan and review channel and division performance to ensure alignment with brand objectives and standards.
  • Ensure the execution of programming in line with visual merchandising standards, actively participating in brand education, program deployment, and distribution growth initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, ensuring adherence to the brand’s standards and priorities.
  • Support the Sr. Market Manager in the market-level sales planning process, providing insights on distribution and cultural opportunities.
  • Act as a cultural liaison between the brand and local sales teams to optimize efforts in the Asian channel.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the Wines & Spirits industry or Food & Beverage sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in public speaking and presentation in both Mandarin and English.
  • Familiarity with retail or 3-Tier distribution environments.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, particularly in data analysis and reporting.
  • A valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to obtain a solicitor’s permit if required by law.
  • Availability for regular client visits and flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends for events.
