Our Client
Our client for this VP Sales & Marketing is a the 15 people-US office of a German Beer company.
Objective
The VP Sales & Marketing works closely with the VP of Finance & Administration and other executives in the Group to develop, implement and execute a short-, mid- and long-term strategy for the USA business. The role is also responsible for directing all sales & marketing functions and will serve as the main representative of the company in the US.
- Adopt, implement and execute the USA Strategy in alignment with the Global Strategy
- Provide Leadership for the company in the US
- Manage budgets and staff in the organization
- Oversee all sales & marketing activity
Ideal Profile
We are looking for a Sales & Marketing executive (mostly Sales) coming from the adult beverage industry, ideally beer, but it could also be wine and spirits. We need someone entrepreneurial, used to a smaller company environment where wearing multiple hats is frequent.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement and execute the US strategy
- Work closely with other executives in the Group to develop a short-, mid- and long-term strategy
- Meet with board members and other executives to assess the direction of the company and ensure it is in line with the Company’s stated mission
- Manage all sales & marketing functions in order to reach performance objectives and the strategy
Provide Leadership for the US team
- Encourage business investment
- Be a visionary and provide leadership for the US team
- Act as the face of the company when dealing with customers, government and communities
Manage budgets and staff in the organization
- Work with the VP of Finance & Administration to develop an annual budget for the organization
- Directly manage the sales and marketing budget of the organization
- Develop, manage and guide the sales and marketing team
- Develop and assign relevant targets for the team that contribute to the overall company KPIs
Oversee all sales and marketing activity
- Develop a marketing strategy in the US to ensure the Company meets its goals and objectives
- Ensure all activity falls within the Brand Key
- Ensure all sales and marketing activity is compliant with state and Federal law
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required
- A graduate degree is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years consumer products experience
- Ability to develop and manage sales forecasts and budgets
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing teams
- Proven track record in building effective relationships with customers and internal associates
- Ability to achieve performance goals with minimum direction and supervision
- Knowledge of and adherence to state & Federal liquor laws required.
- Willingness to travel 50% of working time
- Computer literacy with the skill set to use software applications including Microsoft Word and Office, Excel at an advanced level and PowerPoint
- Appreciated previous experience (to be combined with smaller brands and more start up environments): AB Inbev, MolsonCoors, Constellation, Heineken, Pabst, Diageo, Yuengling, SAB Miller, Great Lakes, Rhinegeist, Brewdog
- Appreciated previous titles: Vice President, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, General Manager, Country Manager, Chief Executive Office, Chief Operating Officer
