Job Description

Company Description

Our client for the COO opportunity is a trendy and fast-growing Tequila brand, headquartered in Miami. Currently boasting a strong presence in Florida, particularly successful in Miami nightclubs, the company seeks to expand its horizon to new markets. Focused on delivering high-quality and unique experiences, the brand is renowned for their spirited innovation and dedication to quality.

Objective of the Role

The Chief Operating Officer will oversee the company’s entire operations. This includes managing the distillery, assisting in fundraising, and having full control over sales, marketing, and P&L. The incumbent will be entrusted with the growth and expansion of the brand in new markets, while maintaining the brand’s dominance in the existing markets.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the wines & spirits industry, specifically in managing distilleries. They should have the acumen to streamline processes, create efficient strategies, and lead the team towards achieving the brand’s objectives. Experience with smaller brands or operations will be a significant advantage. Adaptability, flexibility, and high motivation are key traits sought in the prospective candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the supply chain with a focus on cost reduction and maintaining sufficient inventory levels to ensure there is never a stock-out at distributors.
  • Build and manage relationships with the distiller, distributor, and all critical third-party suppliers.
  • Create and enforce strategies for pipeline management.
  • Lead the operations, marketing, and sales teams, providing leadership and guidance as necessary.
  • Oversee and participate in regular status meetings with Senior Management.
  • Work closely with the distributor on sales and growth commitments.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts and maintain a robust cash flow model.
  • Drive the growth and expansion plan of the brand, with an emphasis on exploring and capturing new markets.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Perform miscellaneous operational tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the wines & spirits industry in the US (any category: spirits, liquors, still wine, sparkling wine, Vodka, Tequila, cognac, mezcal, etc.)
  • At least 5 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing/distillery environment.
  • Proven ability to identify and correct weak spots in a process to improve efficiency.
  • High levels of motivation, results-driven, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in managing people and working with department supervisors.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment – adaptable & flexible.
  • Previous experience with smaller brands or smaller operations is a plus.
  • Willingness to visit Miami headquarters as needed, with a minimum of quarterly visits.
  • Previous titles: Managing Director, CEO, General Manager, VP of Operations
