Job Description
Company Description
Our client is a fast-growing direct-to-consumer platform operating at the intersection of consumer health, dermatology, beauty, performance marketing, and digital commerce. The company develops and sells its own products directly to consumers through a proprietary digital platform, with a strong emphasis on science-backed positioning, consumer education, creative testing, and measurable acquisition performance.
The business is in a significant growth phase and is backed by the resources and infrastructure of a larger public company. The culture is fast-paced, highly analytical, ambitious, and execution-oriented, with a strong focus on rapid testing, clear ownership, and commercial results.
Objective of the Role
The Director of Growth will lead the customer acquisition and performance creative function for a high-growth direct-to-consumer platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, this person will oversee a sizeable growth team and will be responsible for translating business goals into clear acquisition strategies, creative testing roadmaps, and performance improvements.
This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong judgment across paid social, creative strategy, consumer psychology, product positioning, funnel performance, and team execution. The successful candidate will bring structure, speed, and analytical rigor to a high-volume performance marketing environment.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate will come from a high-growth direct-to-consumer, consumer health, beauty, skincare, telehealth, subscription, or digitally native consumer business. Relevant backgrounds may include companies such as Hims & Hers, Ro, Curology, Apostrophe, Glossier, Function of Beauty, The Farmer’s Dog, Warby Parker, Noom, or other performance-led consumer platforms.
This person should have strong experience in paid social acquisition, especially Meta and TikTok, and a clear understanding of creative testing, UGC, influencer content, whitelisted ads, short-form video, landing page performance, and conversion optimization.
The successful candidate will be analytical, creative, operationally disciplined, and comfortable leading in an intense, ambitious, and fast-moving environment. They should be able to assess creative work critically, interpret performance data, make decisive recommendations, and motivate a large team around aggressive growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Own and scale the customer acquisition strategy across paid social and other digital growth channels.
- Lead the performance creative function, with a strong focus on high-volume testing across products, audiences, offers, formats, and platforms.
- Oversee a team of approximately 25 people, including growth strategists, coordinators, video editors, and creative contributors.
- Develop messaging strategies, creative angles, scripts, briefs, testing plans, and performance feedback loops.
- Review ad concepts, video edits, copy, hooks, creator content, and UGC assets with a strong performance lens.
- Manage influencer, creator, UGC, and whitelisting content pipelines to support scalable acquisition.
- Partner closely with the CEO, senior media buying leadership, and creative teams to evaluate performance and prioritize growth opportunities.
- Analyze CPA, CAC, CTR, CVR, CPM, funnel conversion, payback, and other acquisition metrics to identify what should be scaled, improved, or discontinued.
- Translate complex performance trends into clear recommendations and executable plans for the team.
- Assess the current team structure, identify gaps, raise standards, and support hiring and development as needed.
Requirements
- Approximately 6 to 8+ years of experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, customer acquisition, or performance creative.
- Strong experience in a high-growth direct-to-consumer environment.
- Deep expertise in paid social, especially Meta and TikTok.
- Proven ability to build, manage, and improve creative testing systems at scale.
- Strong understanding of how creative, media buying, landing pages, offers, product messaging, and funnel performance work together to drive growth.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn performance data into clear decisions and actions.
- Excellent creative judgment, particularly across short-form video, direct response, UGC, creator content, and social-native formats.
- Proven people leadership experience, including the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a sizeable team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with senior leadership.
- Comfortable operating from a New York City office four days per week.
- Energized by a demanding, entrepreneurial, high-performance culture with significant growth expectations.
