Job Description

** We are not looking for someone coming from Hospitality. We need someone coming from a luxury goods brand or a marketing agency catering to luxury brands **

 

Our Client

Our client is the management company of a portfolio of luxury boutique hotels across North America.

Objective

The Director of Marketing Communications is a new role for an individual who is excited by the opportunity to lead the marketing efforts at the iconic Mauna Lani Resort.   The role will be integral to building a distinct image for the property and growing occupancy and rates as well as increasing ancillary revenues in food & beverage, spa and other activities from high-end luxury guests and patrons.

This individual will be responsible for developing the marketing strategies and implementing efforts around public relations, social media, digital, ecommerce, customer relationship marketing and collateral for Mauna Lani as well as lead the efforts to create one of a kind content including photography, video that creates strong storytelling across all marketing channels.  This person will collaborate in writing annual marketing plans.  In addition, this role will ensure that communications align with property positionings and develop strategies, identify and implement relevant partnerships, sponsorships and unique one-of-a-kind experiences working with the operations team and the guest experience curator.

The Marketing Director has 10-15 years of marketing experience (digital preferred), luxury background nice to have but not required. The role can be from outside the hospitality space. The manager is a key role to the success of the hotel as we continue to elevate our presence online nationally and internationally when people are researching and booking travel to Hawaii.

This person has a foundational understanding of marketing, digital marketing and digital asset management and SEO. The position requires extreme attention to detail and a love of organization.

This role will ideally be filled by someone who also has an understanding of or ability to learn a luxury aesthetic. Someone with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, who is innovative, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to make things happen.

Responsibilities

  • Paid marketing execution across ppc, display, paid social and email
    • Develop and execute annual strategic marketing plan to support the business objectives of the hotel and to drive web and voice bookings
    • Leads the hotel’s paid digital content strategy across ppc, display, email and video advertising and manages the website. Recommends new formats and styles to boost paid performance.
    • Reviews and recommends new ways to reach our audiences
  • Positioning:
    • Ensure the hotel’s web presence is aligned with the Hotel’s positioning and business objectives and where possible links to other company content channels
    • Ensures positioning on other channels is correct and all imagery/content is up to date
    • Internal promotion of and explanation of experiences in close coordination with experiences manager
  • Website Maintenance
    • Supports the hotel’s overall creative content strategy across the website, directories and paid channels, working closely with operational departments on marketing and promotions.
    • Merchandises online and communicates dynamic resort wide guest experience programming with a focus on the Hawaiian Culture, sustainability, water and land activity programs, wellness and F&B
    • Audits and recommends enhancements to the booking engine

  • Ensure brand consistency in all communication efforts

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years experience in digital marketing, branding and/or marketing communications within the hospitality or luxury space
  • Location of the position can be remote or on property. Some travel required (~15% or less)
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills
  • Proven understanding of and success with marketing tactics online
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written), a strong sense of quality and a creative mind set
  • A self-starter that can multitask and prioritize
  • Knowledge of basic tools like Google Analytics, Excel etc
  • Can work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Independent thinker
  • Ability to influence across organizational and departmental lines
  • Proficient in design software like indesign or adobe suite, google suite, social media platforms, web editing tools
  • Must be able to travel if necessary.
