Objective of the Role
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing and growing our client’s portfolio within the women’s apparel sector. This role requires a consultative sales approach, where the executive will partner with off-price retailers to create tailored solutions, oversee the order process, and ensure the seamless execution of sales strategies. The ideal candidate will leverage their industry experience to nurture existing relationships, identify new opportunities, and align with the brand’s values to promote the company’s vision.
Ideal Profile
- Consultative Seller: Experience with consultative sales processes and the ability to develop solutions collaboratively with clients.
- Industry Expertise: Proven track record in womenswear sales, especially within the off-price retail sector (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Nordstrom Rack, Burlington, Saks Off 5th, etc.).
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to supervise the entire sales and order process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Relationship Builder: Strong relationship management skills to cultivate long-term partnerships with key clients.
- Adaptable: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adjust to changing market trends and client needs.
Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients in the off-price retail sector.
- Serve as the main point of contact, providing exceptional service and tailored solutions that meet clients’ needs.
- Conduct regular meetings, presentations, and check-ins to stay aligned with client objectives.
- New Business Development:
- Identify and pursue opportunities for expanding the client base, focusing on potential partnerships within the off-price retail market.
- Attend trade shows, networking events, and industry functions to connect with potential clients and introduce the brand.
- Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Implement sales strategies in alignment with the company’s goals, ensuring the achievement of individual and team sales targets.
- Utilize data-driven insights to refine sales techniques and capitalize on market trends.
- Monitor the sales process from initial contact to final delivery, ensuring a seamless client experience.
- Product Knowledge & Brand Representation:
- Gain a deep understanding of the brand’s product lines, design elements, and craftsmanship to effectively communicate their unique selling points.
- Represent the brand at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings, always reflecting the company’s values and aesthetics.
- Order Management & Coordination:
- Oversee the entire order process, from initial placement to delivery, ensuring all client requirements are met.
- Collaborate with internal teams (production, logistics, and customer service) to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in sales or account management within the women’s apparel industry, with a focus on off-price retail.
- Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in CRM systems, sales software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the women’s fashion industry, with an ability to identify and adapt to emerging trends.
- Location: This is an office-based position in Pasadena, CA. Occasional travel may be required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
